Self-care after lip filler injection.

Precautions after filler injection.

Post-injection lip filler care is a crucial step that patients should pay attention to, as it helps the injected area recover quickly and maintain beautiful, well-shaped lips. The following are the steps you should follow for self-care after lip filler injection:

  • Drink plenty of water because fillers are water-retaining substances and will swell even more. It's recommended to drink 1.5-2 liters of water per day to help the lip fillers maintain their shape and last longer.
  • If you experience pain, it is recommended to take painkillers to reduce the symptoms.
  • Eat nutritious foods, especially leafy green vegetables and fruits that help hydrate the body, such as cucumbers, coconut water, watermelon, oranges, and strawberries.
  • Eat foods high in protein, such as various meats, grains, egg whites, etc.
  • Avoid sun exposure and activities that involve heat, such as saunas, steam rooms, and laser skin treatments.
  • Avoid all strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours.
  • Sleep with your head elevated initially to reduce swelling after lip filler injection.

Precautions after lip filler injection.

Romrawin Clinic would like to share some precautions to take after treatment.Lip filler injection as follows

  • Quit smoking.
  • Avoid touching your lips in any way—whether squeezing, grasping, massaging, picking, scratching, or pressing your lips together—to prevent lip deformation.
  • Do not peel or pull at the skin around your lips, as this behavior will strip the skin of its moisture.
  • Avoid using straws for the first 12 hours to allow for lip filler migration.
  • Avoid taking NSAIDs and supplements containing Ginkgo biloba extract, vitamin E, evening primrose oil, etc.

Foods to avoid after lip filler injections.

What should you avoid eating after lip filler injections? As you know, there are many precautions and self-care measures to follow after lip filler injections. However, there's another crucial aspect to consider: diet. Specifically, there are foods to avoid, as follows:

  • Grilled food and shabu-shabu: Heat from stoves or food can cause newly injected lip fillers to break down faster. Therefore, if you enjoy shabu-shabu or grilled food, it's recommended to avoid these types of food for about two weeks after lip filler injection.
  • Spicy foods, high in sodium: Spicy and sweet foods, whether salty or very spicy, will slow down the healing process of swelling from the injection and, more importantly, may cause the lips to swell even more. Therefore, if you like to eat these types of food, it's recommended to avoid them for about 3-7 days after lip filler injection.
  • Raw food and fermented food: After lip filler injections, it's crucial to avoid these types of food. All raw and fermented foods, such as raw fish, pickled fruits, and fermented fish paste, may be contaminated with pathogens during preparation. Consuming these can lead to infection and inflammation in the injected area.
  • tAlcoholic beverages: Drinking any type of alcohol, whether liquor, beer, wine, whiskey, etc., can cause swelling and redness in the lip filler area. Therefore, you should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages for about 3-14 days after the injection.

Frequently asked questions after lip filler injections.

Answering frequently asked questions about the post-lip filler injection experience.

Why are my lips more swollen than usual after getting lip fillers?

It's normal to experience swelling after lip filler injections. This swelling is caused by the injection needle damaging some of the skin tissue. The swelling will gradually subside within 2-3 days.

However, if you notice unusual or prolonged swelling in your lips after filler injection, without other side effects, it may be due to consuming foods that can increase swelling, such as alcohol or spicy foods. Therefore, you should avoid eating foods that trigger swelling after lip filler injection for safety reasons.

If you notice unusual swelling, along with other symptoms such as redness, swelling, or dark red skin, this swelling may indicate an infection or an allergic reaction to the filler. You should see a doctor immediately for treatment and to have the filler dissolved as soon as possible.

If I'm not satisfied with my lip fillers after getting lip injections, can I get them dissolved? How many days should I wait before getting them dissolved?

After lip filler injections and the lips have settled into their desired shape, but you are not satisfied with the results, you can have them dissolved. There is no need to wait before the procedure. For filler dissolution, the doctor will inject a filler dissolving agent, such as Hyaluronidase, which can dissolve genuine fillers.

Can I apply lipstick after getting lip fillers?

How many days after lip filler injection can I apply lipstick? If you've had lip filler injections, it's not recommended to apply lipstick immediately. It's best to refrain from applying lipstick for one day to prevent infection, allergic reactions, or peeling. After that, you can apply lipstick as usual.

Can I brush my teeth after getting lip fillers?

You can brush your teeth as usual. However, for the first 1-2 days after lip filler injection, it's recommended to brush carefully, avoiding opening your mouth too wide and brushing gently to prevent any contact or trauma to the newly injected lips.

Is it okay to kiss after getting lip fillers?

Many people who have recently had lip fillers have questions about whether they can kiss immediately. Actually, if you want to kiss, it's recommended to avoid it for about 24 hours after the procedure. This is to prevent the filler from shifting or becoming misshapen.

If lumps appear after lip filler injections, are they dangerous?

theAfter lip injection, lumps formed.Unusually hard lumps are often caused by a lack of expertise on the part of the doctor, using inappropriate injection techniques, or choosing a filler type that is too hard and unsuitable for lip injections. This can lead to the formation of lumps. However, if lumps occur after lip filler injection due to the above reasons, and genuine filler was used, it is not dangerous and can be resolved by dissolving the filler.

However, if lip fillers are injected into the lips using substandard or fake fillers, and hard lumps form, it is very dangerous. This can lead to inflammation, leakage in the future, and cannot be removed with dissolving injections; it requires scraping. Therefore, when choosing lip fillers, select a specialist with direct experience in filler injections, who uses genuine, verifiable fillers, for safety and to avoid lumps.

If my lips feel thinner after lip filler injections, can I get more filler added?

If someone is dissatisfied with the results after lip filler injections, feeling that their lips still look too thin, the amount of filler can be increased. If a patient wishes to add more filler, they can consult a doctor, who will assess the appropriate amount of filler for their lip shape.

In summary, after lip filler injection.
